The Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the temporary and part-time position of Child Care Aide in the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department. Performs related work as necessary and plans, implements, and teaches age-appropriate activities and/or programs for elementary-aged children at assigned City child care facilities, all under the immediate supervision of the Child Care Site Coordinator.
The standard work schedule will be Monday through Friday, from 6:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on weekdays. This position is restricted to a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year, with a maximum of 25 hours per week. This position is available for employment throughout the year.

Experience:

SELECTION PROCESS:
A Formula Rate Examination will evaluate the applications of all candidates who satisfy the minimum requirements. A predetermined formula will be employed to assess the applicant’s education and experience.
The classification and placement of applicants on the Employment List will be determined by the scores obtained from this evaluation. The department recruiting authority will employ supplementary queries to make decisions regarding the selection and interview process.
The final appointment is contingent upon the successful completion of a City-funded fingerprint check, a review of past employment references, and, depending on the position applied for, a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check process.
Within 12 months of appointment, certain positions necessitate completion of a thorough background check conducted by the Police Department (PD). The City reserves the right to appoint candidates to positions prior to the completion of the comprehensive Police Department background check. In such cases, the candidate will be informed in advance that security access to information technology systems will be restricted to non-PD related systems until PD clearance is obtained.
If the candidate ultimately fails to clear the PD background, they will be released from City service without the right to appeal, in accordance with Personnel Rules 3.04.050.
